LED lighting for Golf Courses and Golf Driving ranges presents a very unique challenge for Golf lighting designers due to the vast expanse of the Golf Driving Range or Golf Course. Whilst for Golf Course lighting one can typically strategically position golf lighting poles strategically around the Golf Course. However, for the Golf driving range where the LED Light Poles are typically mounted only up one end selecting the correct light can be more of a challenge so as to produce sufficient lighting down the entire golf driving range.
We were approached by Neil at Pandanus Park Golf Driving range to replace their aging 2000W 415V metal halide lights on 12 metre poles. The lights were 8 years old and one had just blown so they had most likley decayed to approximately 50 to 60% of their original output.
Neil was particularly budget sensitive so we offered him 4 of our Eco Range Sports Oval Flood Lights (LITE-SK-FL-720W). These are a very light weight design Sports Oval Flood Light with multiple beam angle options available and high lumen output. The LED drivers used are the reliable Mean Well ELG drivers rated at 100,000 hours.
The Golf Driving Range Lighting Simulation indicated that two narrow beam 20° 720W LED Flood lights to project to the far end of the golf driving range, and two at 40° narrow-medium beam 720W LED Flood lights to project to the close and middle region of the golf driving range would produce a good result.
Now that they are installed the 720W LED Golf Driving Range lights speak for themselves with the installer stating "Those LED’s are very good. The job turned out good in the end, and Neil is very satisfied."
