We were approached by Sydney Olympic Park lighting designer for a specific light projection/beam pattern to replace the existing metal halide lights in the tower lighting at Sydney Olympic Park. We were able to provide over a dozen different rectangular beam patterns before the most suitable lighting pattern was obtained from simulations. The LED Flood light also had to offer 0-10V Dimming so as to interface with the Sydney Olympic Park City Touch Intelligent Lighting Control System.
The final Area LED Lighting poduct used was a 300W LED Flood Light (known as a Tunnel Light) with 90x100° rectangular beam pattern (not spherical) and a colour temperature of 5700K. A total of 152 x 300W LED Tunnel Lights were required.
The specific shape of this beam pattern on the tower reflector/ceiling is shown in the LED Area Lighting simulation below comparing the selected 90x100° rectangular beam pattern (top) with an alternate 90 x 120° beam pattern (bottom). An average of over 7000 lux is achieved on the lighting tower reflector.
